PADDLESPORT LEADER DEVELOPMENT COURSE ( 2 Days )
OVERVIEW
If you’re a paddler and want to develop your leadership skills then this course is the one for you.
This course is all about developing your personal needs and for those considering doing the British Canoeing Paddlesports Leader Award. ( PSL )
We’ll look at the leadership and rescue skills required to lead mixed craft ( SUP, Canoe and Kayak ) groups on epic journeys on open water with winds up to force 3 and on gently moving rivers. It will also help you to develop your own paddling skills in your chosen craft.
We’ll make sure you’ll leave the course with a detailed picture of the assessment standard, a development plan to get you to that level and a firm grasp of what the PSL assessment should involve.

AIMS
To help develop you as a leader and work towards your British Canoeing Paddlesport Leader, which qualifies you to lead mixed craft groups on sheltered open water, gently flowing rivers and slow-moving estuaries.
PRE-REQUISITES
To get the most out of this course you should be confident manoeuvring your chosen craft on sheltered water at the top end of the remit and have a reasonable level of fitness.
IS IT FOR ME?
If you’re working towards your Paddlesport Leader and would like some additional input then this development course is for you. It is also suited to those paddlers who just want peace of mind in developing their own personal leadership skills.

CONTENT
We’ll look at all the skills required to lead mixed craft groups on sheltered open water and gently moving rivers in a stunning location in the Celtic Nations. We’ll also take a look at rescues, dealing with and avoiding incidents with real-life scenarios.
