ISA LEVEL 1 SURF COACH

So you want to become a qualified surf coach, have the dream job and travel the world?

 

You have come to the right place!

This qualification is the minimum award requirement and industry standard to work as a surf instructor, in a surf school, surf camp, club, college or similar setting.

 

The award is aimed at the coaching of beginner/intermediate level surfers and covers a range of modules.

 

As well as the ISA Level 1 all candidates must also obtain an acceptable International beach lifeguard/ ocean rescue award.

 

Here in the UK, the recognised lifesaving awards are:

 

  • Surf Lifesaving Great Britain (SLSGB) Surf Coach Safety & Rescue Award

  • Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) or SLSGB National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NVBLQ)

  • SLSGB Surf Lifeguard Award

 

Candidates must also have 20 hours practical instructing (beginner level) guided by supervisor instructor. (Session records in workbook to be completed by candidate/instructor and signed off by supervisor instructor)

OR documented Recognised Prior Learning (RPL).

 

Most people will combine the the ISA Level 1 course with a lifeguard award which means short time frame to be on your way to full accreditation and employment.

In association with the award-winning and accredited surf school, Newquay Activity Centre, we will offer all successful candidates the opportunity to complete their 20 hours practical instruction and an interview for paid work in the coming season.
